Red, yellow, and orange sunflower with a bee in Sue Evergreen's garden

Loving you September

I might be slightly partial to September. Not only is it my birth month, but it is a turning point in the year in several ways.

The summer garden is beginning to turn a corner. Some items are finishing up here in the Pacific Northwest, and some are at their peak. Tomatoes are still going strong, and the sunflowers are in full glory. Delightfully, my bee friends are still very active!

But, the air is changing. The mornings and evenings are cool as we say goodbye to summer. We wake up to condensation covering the plants and windshields. My kids are back to school, and no matter how much I love them, I’m so glad. I’m glad strictly for their learning progress, of course. So, for a few more weeks, we will enjoy weather that feels nearly perfect, a few more bonfires in the backyard, and mentally prepare for the upcoming seasonal celebrations.
