Sue Evergreen is dropping rocks in front of an evergreen tree in "Why Dropping Rocks."

How Big are Your Rocks?

I have some pretty big life rocks I’ve been carrying around with me for a long time. Everywhere. Everyday. It’s a bit of a mixed bag. While there may be some items that I need and want to keep, some difficult ones have been burdening me for far too long.

I don’t want to carry such a heavy load any longer. I don’t know exactly how or what is in the bag, but I know some of these rocks must go.

The Quest for a Lighter Load

So, I’m here to drop some of these rocks. How does an ordinary 40-something-year-old woman with responsibilities, bills, and baggage do that? Well, that’s what I’m on a quest to figure out.

Something Familiar

I will start with nurturing something that brings me comfort, like a perfect old hooded sweatshirt, my garden. I’ve spent a few years playing around with seeds and dirt, and I find something in the garden I can’t find anywhere else. I should dig deeper.

Something New

I will also try something new, although it is an old dream. From the time I could pound a nail in a board as a child and endless hours enviously watching others create beautiful homes or pieces of furniture through woodworking, my deepest heart has wanted to make, recreate, and restore through the craft of woodworking. I’m not sure what I’m doing. So, I will give it a go and see what happens.

Something Ever Changing

Then, there is the life stuff that keeps going. I’m a mother, a partner, a daughter, a sister. And somewhere in all that, I’m an individual having a human experience. I love to make good food, listen to music, read fantastic books, find what a healthy body and mind mean to me, and follow the endless path of studying and observing all things. I fail, win, laugh, cry, get anxious, feel fantastic, feel like shit, love hard, hurt big, get humiliated, and keep going.

  3. This blog is definitely rather handy since I’m at the moment creating an internet floral website – although I am only starting out therefore it’s really fairly small, nothing like this site. Can link to a few of the posts here as they are quite. Thanks much. Zoey Olsen
